Huddled and concealed up in the hills, Ravello is proudly overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea, the nearby Maiori, Minori, the historical duchy of Amalfi and petite Atrani. If you are in search of some of the best and most spectacular views in Campania and around the Amalfi Coast, then Ravello is the right place to be. This boutique resort town has, is and will continue to excite the hearts and minds of all who visit.
This is also the time to say thank you, Salerno, for preparing us for the views to come as part of our trip around Campania and Costiera Amalfitana - we enjoyed the greatest of hospitality and rooftop views!
But back to Ravello, this truly and genuinely exceptional destination. Even now when I write this post, a peaceful yet powerful wave of emotions playfully kisses the shoreline of my soul.
The jewel in the crown of the Amalfi coast, Ravello boasts some impeccable bohemian credentials. It has been immortalized through the work of Boccaccio in Decameron and namely through Landolfo Rufolo. Ravello has also served as an inspiration to the world-famous composer Richard Wagner, the writers D.H.Lawrence and Gore Vidal, the actress Greta Garbo and even Jackie Kennedy.
Two days were hardly enough to allow embracing all this enchanting beauty. Even now the thought of it feels like taking part in a magical fairy-tale with palaces, cliffside gardens and a beautiful Principessa- the upper kingdom of Campania.
A visit to the ravishing and dramatic cliffside gardens of Ravello is the best way to get you involved in this magical fairy-tale. Villa Rufolo made me feel like an airborne fish, my heart pounding, eyes wide open and a million dollar smile on my face. Built by the Rufolo family, this masterpiece is a testament to the aspirations of one of the most influential families at its peak and legacy for the past and new generations to come. A fresh, invigorating breath of air away from the smog of profanity and contemporary mundane lifestyles and existence. Stimulus to pursue your own most sacred dreams and desires.
Following our visit to villa Rufolo, I thought that it wasn’t possible to experience beauty of equal proportion and such to take my breath away again. The fact is that my simple mind was still preoccupied with processing the visuals that Ravello humbly offers. Was I wrong? Yes, I was. Villa Cimbrone proved me wrong. The estates of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone are not one of equivalent, but unparalleled magnificence. To compare them to me feels sinful. Similar to loving one of your children more than the other and both are a part of you and your being. However, how do you convey the completeness of this emotion? Well, I’ve given my very best to do so through sharing my experience through text, photo, and a jaw-dropping video! I hope you like it!
If you are not packing your bags already, I am sure you might have at least given it some thought. If this is the case, I would advise that you pay a visit to the official site of Ravello. It contains useful information about future events, accommodation options and the answer to one excellent question. How to get to Ravello?
Ruthlessly the clock was ticking, and unwillingly we had to say our goodbyes and head to the charming and vibrant Positano for another portion of heavenly views.
Ravello, I look forward to being your guest again and submit to your enchantment very soon. Yours sincerely, Vladimir!
