Top foods of Spain

Europe in general has some of the best and most famous worldwide cuisines. Each country has its own traditional foods which can be found all over the world. Spain's cuisine is in that number as well. Here the ones that made our list.

Paella - one of the most famous Spanish dishes, originating from Valencia, Paella is a rice dish that can contain vegetables and seafood. The original Paella contains of white rice, green beans, meat, garrofo, snails and seasoning such as saffron and rosemary.


Gazpacho - a cold soup made of raw, blended vegetables, mainly tomatoes. It's a classic Spanish dish, originated from the southern regions. It's a very popular soup not only in Spain, but in Portugal as well. It's mostly consumed in summertime, because it's very cool and refreshing. Gazpacho is one of those meals that can be found all over the world, but taste differently when eaten in Spain made by the locals.


Fideua - yet another dish originating from Valencia region. Seafood very similar to Paella but instead of rice it has noodles. The main ingredients are pasta and fish (shrimps, crayfish and others) seasoned with lemon.


Churros - a typical Spanish and Portuguese desert. Normally eaten for breakfast with coffee, dipped in chocolate, churros are a well fried dough with sugar sprinkled on top. Tasty!

 Croquetas - a small fried breadcrumb roll with meat inside it (beef, chicken, turkey), fish, ham, cheese or vegetables and spiced with herbs, wine or beer. Can be also filled with mashed potatoes and served as a side dish for your main course.

Crema Catalana - a delicious desert very similar to French Creme Brulee. It is normally served slightly chilled, the custard base is traditionally flavored with vanilla, but can have a variety of other flavorings as well.

Tapass - the best appetizers from the Spanish cuisine. Tapa may be cold mixed with olives and cheese or hot like chopitos. Tapas can also be combined to make a full meal, not only consumed as appetizers. They can be found as well in the Mexican cuisine and even in the Portuguese.


Jamon Iberico - a world famous meal, a type of cured ham produced in Spain and Portugal as well. It can be made from black Iberian pigs or cross-bred pigs. It's considered to be one of the best hams in the world.

There are also many other Spanish dishes that can be found and consumed only in certain regions of Spain so we will not include them on our list here. And have in mind when visiting a country to always go for the local foods and drinks no matter if you've tried them in any other country, is't not place they originate from and will very likely not be the same.
